Our CEO was invited as a speaker to the RICS and Women’s Property Network (WPN) Africa Conference which happened on the 19th of June, 2024 at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg. Both the WPN and RICS are dedicated to equipping built environment practitioners with the knowledge, skills and network required to tackle issues facing the African built environment sector. The 2024 edition of the RICS Africa Summit saw a collaboration with the Women’s Property Network to provide leading insight into some of the continent’s pressing issues, focussing on Diversity, Innovation and Sustainability.

Sustainability is the first of three key themes the conference explored. With global pressure continuing to mount on Africa to adopt more green and sustainable practices, expert speakers came together to discuss what role the continent should play in tackling climate change.

Jackline’s session explored housing through the lense of sustainability, one of the key themes of the conference, unpacking what the global energy transition means for African housing delivery. She covered areas such as finance, policy, project procurement, and end-user affordability. The discussion looked at the challenges and lesson Africa’s housing market can learn from the US affordable housing sector, in the context of the energy transition.
