Our COP 28 Highlights
December 10, 2023
Mzansi Clean Energy Capital founder, Jackline Okeyo, attended COP28 UAE in Dubai. She reflects on her experience. “Aside from an approved roadmap to transition away from fossil fuels, a historic achievement, the Investment COP, I found, delivered more participants who were ready to collaborate on advancing solutions to tackle climate change. Or perhaps my ask was more pragmatic, ‘How do we actually create and finance climate transition projects in our built environment?’
She attended sessions that covered a variety of topics, including a session by the Centre for Climate and Energy Solutions at the US pavilion which summarised ‘5 key lessons from the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’; a session by the National Business Initiative at the South African pavilion which focused on ‘Showcasing Pockets of Excellence in The Green and Inclusive Sector in Rural and Township Landscapes and the Role of Private Sector Collaboration in the Transition to a Low Carbon Economy’.
